case details:

Lee was last seen leaving his apartment at Campus Walk Trails in Oxford, Mississippi, at around 5:58 a.m. on July 8th, 2022. Lee got into his car and drove out of the parking lot.

Earlier that morning, around 2 a.m., Lee sent his mother a text to wish her a happy birthday. She woke up later in the morning and replied. She thought it was strange that she had not heard from him after a while. Family members became even more alarmed when Lee did not show up for a baby formula drive that he organized in partnership with the Mississippi Department of Child Protective Services in Lafayette County. Lee’s family reported him missing. The University of Mississippi Police Department and Oxford Police Department began investigating his disappearance.

Three days later, Lee’s car was located in a tow yard. The car had been towed from the Molly Barr Hills Apartments in Oxford. Crime Stoppers announced a $1,000 reward for information regarding Lee’s whereabouts.

Search efforts continued for weeks until the outlook turned grim. On July 22nd, authorities announced they had arrested Sheldon Herrington, Jr. for the murder of Lee. Digital forensic evidence showed that at 6:04 a.m., Lee messaged Herrington asking him to open the front door to his apartments at the Lafayette Place Apartments. This is the last location Lee’s phone ever pings. At 6:12 a.m. a Snapchat is opened from the same location and then the phone is not used again. At 6:41 a.m., Herrington is seen on camera at Wal-Mart purchasing duct tape. A subsequent search of his parents’ home in Grenada, Mississippi turned up surveillance video of Herrington taking a long handled shovel and a wheelbarrow and placing them in the back of a box truck before driving off.

Extensive searches have been performed however Lee remains missing at this time.
