Havard was last seen on march 10th, 1970, with a friend Bobbie Joe Sims in Escatawpa, Mississippi. Havard was set to testify against two individuals from escatawpa that had been accused of theft and assault that resulted in a teenager being stabbed. He disappeared three days before the court date. havard and sims both were unable to be located and were considered missing until sims was found floating face down in Biloxi Bay on march 19th, 1970. Authorities believe that there may have been an altercation near an escatawpa store where witnesses reportedly heard three gunshots. Havard has never been located but is presumed deceased. Since havard’s disappearance, investigators have followed several leads; however, havard remains missing at this time.
