case details:
Robert Barnes lived on Red Creek Road near Long Beach, Mississippi across from a Bed and Breakfast where a man named Richard Lambert stayed for over a month. Barnes was later found stabbed and dismembered near a bayou north of Pass Christian, Mississippi. Through the course of the murder investigation, detectives discovered that Lambert had used Jimmy Brantley’s identification to cash a check belonging to Barnes. Brantley’s last known address is in Destin, Florida.
Brantley’s mother stated that he traveled to the Destin, Florida area to work on a boat. She did not have much contact with her son who was homeless at the time. Lambert has been charged with robbing, murdering, and dismembering 79-year-old Robert “Bob” Barnes. Lambert was charged with the 2001 murder of a 22-year-old woman who he beat and dumped into the Ohio River. He served five years and was released shortly before murdering Barnes.
After several unsuccessful attempts by Florida authorities to locate Brantley, he was listed on NCIC. Brantley has not been seen or heard from since sometime in 2009. His case remains unsolved at this time.
