Essex was last seen on February 19, 2019, walking near the Pines Apartments in Tupelo, Mississippi. He may have been en route to Memphis, Tennessee. It is reported that Mr. Essex called for a cab to pick him up but when the cab driver arrived, Essex was not at the pickup location.
Essex called his daughter the night before he disappeared panicking because he thought someone was trying to break into his apartment. His daughter did not live in town so she reached out to local family members to go over and check on Essex. They checked on him that night and stated that everything appeared fine.
It is unclear if the alleged attempted break-in was related to Essex’s disappearance or not. Few details are available regarding Essex’s disappearance and his case remains unsolved at this time.
